Note to self: latex does not hide beergut. Also Super Mario could very well be the real Peter Parker. It boggles the mind. But then, Italians have that ability.

Speaking of bloated superheroes; I finally got to see Watchmen, and I liked it! There are still some things and issues I have to get used to (like a "man" who in general is more powerful than Superman, Batman and Spiderman all put together), but I think that has more to do with the original comic/story rather than the comic-to-movie conversion. Which was a very decent conversion in itself anyway. There even were some moments where I thought the movie director had changed bits and bobs, but I was corrected by my cousin and, upon coming home, found that he was indeed right, so I stand corrected. Shows what I know. Not sure what I think about seeing a big pulsating blue penis on a giant screen, but I felt there were few scenes left out or altered too much from the still excellent original story, and the big in-your-face violence did me some good. All in all a very good showing, I wonder which comic they will pick next.

And on with the youtube clips. This one clearly shows that professional sports are not done by professionals alone. Or perhaps I am clueless in the field of what it is to be a pro.

This is the American dubbed version of a Japanse show called Takashi's Castle (in English territory it's called MXC), which seems like a sort of knock-out race for regular Joe and Jane, but to tell the truth it's not about the race, it's all about the knock-outs, and the commentary. Mostly about the commentary actually.

5'12 takes the cake. The freakin cake.

For a while I was really anticipating the release of Resident Evil 5, because after having played and loved every minute (well perhaps not every scary minute) of RE4 I, somewhat mistakenly, figured I was finally old and bold enough to venture into this "horror adventure" side of gaming. Alas, games like FEAR, Siren and Silent Hill are still not my cuppa and never will be, but being able to play a game which at least focuses on scaring the player in some way is still a triumph I cherish. Perhaps it's because unlike the previous RE games, part 4 was more of a shooter than an horror-adventure, meaning a bit less thinking and a bit more shooting. And shooting scary things always comes easier to me then thinking what those scary things might possibly do to me.

Unfortunately RE5 doesn't seem to live up to the hype. But honestly, how could it. The "meh" reviews are slowly coming in and it's becoming apparent that puzzels have been toned down a bit more, there are more on-rail shooting elements and with a game-span of a little over 10 hours it's not the lengthiest of affairs. Now RE4 already was a watering down of the earlier RE games, but that was exactly why I loved it. Gone with much of the hard (?) puzzling and awaiting some zombie or zombiedog to thrash through the window (that was aces to watch, but not play) and in with, like I said, just some simple run away and shoot gameplay. But hearing that the new RE is another step into getting away from it's old/basic gameplay is a bit of a shame, I would have loved to crack my skull on some puzzles and finding it hard to get through the game. Making a game too easy is just that; too easy. Take in the second surprise: a CPU sidekick through the entire single-player game and it has left me with a bit of a bad taste. Even though I probably wouldn't have bought it right away (other games are higher up the list) I would have loved to shoot me some darkies (ooooeeeeeerrrrrrr) and the offline co-op mode is brilliant as well, but reading about the game being "not as good as 4" has, for now, made me wait for the game to fall into the bargain range.

What's happened to the once holiest of holiest webshops play.com? It used to be a matter of ordered on saturday in by friday, but nowadays that friday comes no sooner then at least 3 weeks later and that's counting you lucky! Is it you causing problems British Mail? Are you disrupting the once wondeful relationship me and this heaven of cheap books and DVDs were having? Is it really thee? Well thou shall be damned for this! And what's up with that silly pound-euro convertion those silly twits are using now, where's my supposed goddamn profit going to?!

Blahdvd.com, mymemory.co.uk, cd-wow.com and amazon.co.uk seem better bets for swift and cheap deals instead and when it comes to paper bookdepository.com is the mutts nutts.

I'm sorry Play, you were once my favourite place to spend my, not so, hard earned "money" (remember: creditcard credit isn't real money), but I'm starting to feel that was all you really cared for :*[

I have a real love/hate relationship with the Apple company. On the one hand they create some of best looking products out there, and if I am to believe their fans, also some of the best working products. And on the other I detest the company and it's legacy (fandom). Once in a while I stray off the regular forumpath and end up in the Mac neck of woods, in this part of the world people don't complain about updates, virusses or non-working copies of their OS. Instead they post nice clean photo's of their setups, which apart from their desks all look rather the same (what with their: buy any Mac you want, any, as long as it's brushed metal) but then it all still looks so yummy anyway, so why ever change that, and they talk of joy and nice software features and "widgets". So whenever I stumble upon the computer porn I find myself wondering if a change from computer environment would be possible and in fact: desirable for me. I wouldn't mind trading in Windows for something a little more polished. Not just polished in its looks, but also in its inner workings, because lets be honest: Windows is a bit of a mess, or can be. I haven't had any big problems with XP for quite some while, but they are there. And I have suffered from them. And when trying to find some money for a new system the same queston arises: XP license or Vista license? It's like picking from two evils. Vista lovers are even scarcer to find than Microsoft fanboys at a Macworld expo, and it's supposed to be the future!

The thing I really really hate about Apple, and its fans, is their blatent arrogance. Their arrogance in the speeches at their keynotes, the arrogance with their prices, their hardware updates, their fans, their attitudes, everything. For some reason your product is never any good, unless you yell loud enough that is much better than. Just show me what it does and I'll make up my mind myself ok? The iPod seems like a wonderful system, but its support seems rather lacklustre. Again, connect it to any media library you want, any, as long as it's your own single iTunes. Afaik it doesn't support a whole wide range of media types, such as perhaps Ogg Vorbis, and you'll lose all the music the instant you use an iTunes not registered to your name. Why put those restrictions on an, otherwise, excellent piece of machine? Because the music industry requires it? Maybe, but you've let it come this far yourself. Also the places to buy a Mac, a G5 for instance, are few and far between, apart from the official Apple resellers I believe there are just a handful of websites selling the machines. Why? Well to keep the price ridiculously high if I am to guess. A nice G5 with LED-ACD and a wireless keyboard just for some Apple loving, is there really any reason that should have to cost the price of a small car? With specs a modern decent PC would be embarrassed to carry.

And so I find myself often wondering about the Apple train, should I get on board or not. I've wanted an iPod for so long, but there always seems that little thing off about it that keeps me from buying. I think the Classic would be superd for my needs, even better supplying me then the Touch, but then I'd still be stuck with iTunes which I don't want. Unless I have a Mac anyway, in that case I could go all out and do those 9 yards. But wouldn't I be selling my soul to those arrogant smug little bastards? And so it continues until I finally do sometime make that step, because I don't want to use Vista or XP anymore. But then what about gaming? Aaarrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

And Linux, well, that's just too Linux for me.

How are you doing? Good good. I'm still positivily playing on my PS3, doing Metal Gear Solid 4 and some The Last Guy on the side. Also I've stepped into a Philip K. Dick story and The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button truly is a wonderful movie. Apart from that I'm a bit of a nervous wreck just wanting to burn my school complex. Does that make me a bad person, or just a bad student?

Anyhow I came across this little Youtube thing and it's just the cutest. Dog + kitten + camera =... teh win.

I just went to the official Ati site to download new graphics drivers and witnessed the speedy download transition of 1,4MB per sec. I am amazed, which is why I am writing this here. I can still remember how once upon a time I wanted to download the Daikatana (of all games) demo and waited until 8am to avoid all the other leeches to have the best speed, back then I was happily impressed with 104KBps! How times have changed.

That is all, you can now return to your life. Go.

Oh but before you go, watch this: Robot Chicken does Star Wars

I wish you a, belated, happy new year and I hope you ended thy old in style. May this have been with as many bangs, blings and kablooies as you were hoping. Whatever floats your boat.

Me and my girlfiend spend the last week of 2008 in Belgium. Brussels to be more precies. We decided that fleeying to a foreign city in order to escape the "oh dear god who are we going to celebrate the new years with this time" headaches was for the best. And boy were we right! I've witnessed more cathedrals and the best fireworks display in that one week than ever before, so it was all worth it. We didn't visit many museums, just the Brussels strip museum (comicbooks ftw!), but the exterior of many a building was enough for a plethora of "oh's" and "ah's". There's quite a lot of history in that little city, including, unfortunately, the trains which brought us in and out of Belgium (making up for a total of 3 hours delay both ways).

It's a shame winter really has come to town this year as it meant we were roaming the city freezing our feet off, but luckily there was always that little warm hotelroom with a big comfy bed to casually drop our frozen bodies into.

So out with the old, and in with the new! 2009 _MUST_ be the year I finally finish school (should be within two months, but who knows), the Playstation3 will give me more than enough of gaming pleasure and with a bit of luck me and my girlfriend will finally find a little place to call our own.
