I suppose Roger Federer is one of my modern sportheroes really. A sportsman the way I like my sporters. He's the quiet gentleman genius on court and not too afraid too say something, contructive, about the sport and its people off the court, while keeping it polite of course. Some players are vocally active or busy trying to undermine the mental state of opponents during a game, driving them out off their concentration, but I've never found Federer to anything of the sort. And to think he's been on top of the game for so long, winning so much in a sport which is so competitive really is amazing. So it hurt me deeply to find Nadal, always damn Nadal, playing so well this year. Not just on his beloved clay, but also on hardcourt and grass even. Nonetheless it was Federer who won his fifth concecutive US Open yesterday (night), again a miltestone for such a great athlete. Even if the game was rather boring.
In a way it's people like Federer, Loeb, Bolt, Phelbs, Rossi and Schumacher who make sports really great and dull to watch at the same time. Their genius in their respective field is amazing to watch, but at times you really need them to fall in order to keep your interest in the sport. I think tennis is going through that phase, Federer has pretty much fallen of his pedestal and times are exciting, but I would really really love to see him fight back and win that grand slam he's been after for so long. Nadal vs Federer @ Roland Garros 2009? With Roger as teh win? Yes please!

Does liking this make me gh3y? A girly? A pantsy? A backdoorknight? Does it? DOES IT!?
Should I care? I don't really have a clue what this game is about, looks like tamagotchi with anime girlies, but I am really liking it! The fluid animation with the girly drawingstyle makes me go *wZrrrrrrrrr*.... don't ask. I will definately have to get to the bottom of this, what is it, what does it do and how much (of a beating from my gf) is this gonna cost me?! Those japs man, what the damn are they drinking with their bagles. Sometimes the notion that they have good clean paint running from their taps makes it all seem so logical.

When it was announced Pixar was not leaving the Walt Disney group and that instead the Pixar chiefs were getting a bigger slice of WD instead, it filled me with some sorrow. If there's one company I'd have loved to see make animated movies with a slightly more adult theme (not porn) it's Pixar. I'd say Pixar could have become the Studio Ghibli of Hollywood and take it just a bit further still. Instead when I now see Wall

Veggies are not meant for me and my kind, it is instead meant for cute baby hamsters. Feast away little one...
If god really had intended us to eat from the soil he'd have made Snickers grow from trees. Am I right or am I right!

Well the Hori screenprotectors weren't the success I thought they would be, but I will try again. I managed to get the touch screen protector so dusty it wasn't of any use anymore so I threw it away, but the top screen is protected since a week and he's never looked so happy. I really do want to protect the bottom screen as well, because I have seen what can happen if you don't and, knowing my luck, something like that will happen to me. I can be a very heated person and gamer at times so touchy screen + me is not the best combination one could think of, never a true dull gaming moment with me.
On the other hand luck has dealt me some good cards recently. For instance there was that time when I walked in a book store to find all The Walking Dead and Flight comics to be half their normal price and recently when I walked into that same store I found the fourth manga in the Akira saga to be discounted as well! So now I'm reading up a bit on Akira again. It's interesting to see how the anime basically stops at book three. Even the first three books have very different happenings, but there is quite a bit of overlap with the movie. Book four however deals with situations the anime doesn't touch at all. Like how Neo Tokyo turns into a Mad Max like society with different camps isn't seen in the movie at all, the anime just sticks with different rebel groups. And that makes the read quite a bit more interesting, because I have no idea where this will end. Also the graphics and style are really good, absolutely my thing in a way most other manga is not.
There's also the bit of real reading (no piccies) to be done, but I have had a hard time getting into Iain Banks' Look To Windward, now that I finally am getting into the story Akira pops up and I have a zillion of games to play! Speaking of which: Half-Life2: Episode2 really rawks. It rawks the Rawky Mountains of its sawks. It seems Ep2 had _ALL_ the best bits from the previous games only in a shorter timespan, in a more frantic pace and in better places. I am really glad to have finally left City17 and hope never to go back in there. Please make Episode3 more like the last bit of Ep2 with more new places and surroundings to explore and please please PLEASE bring an end to the Half-Life story, I just want all Barney's and people in the HL world to live in peace in their little rooms and enjoy their little TV's, beds and glorious wallpaper, it is obvious the combine attacked IKEA first.

Seriously, isn't he the cutest? The (TakaTomy) slipon sock aint half bad either. It's not half as thick and protective as I thought it would be, but at least it kills the danger of getting scratches on my DS and it looks the bizz. Aint I the coolest.
I also got a pair of Hori DS screen protectors for... screen protection! Didn't see that one coming did ya. But it's been pure agony trying to stuff the fuckers on thus far. I've been spending close to an hour trying to put the protector for the touch screen on, but first I had a million air bubbles underneath and just when I figured I had that all worked out I had dust particles floating on the screen like madness. For fear of tearing the DS apart like a mad bull seeing red I decided to have a go at the top screen instead and lo and behold: success. Yup, the one screen that doesn't really gain a whole lot from it turns out to be the best student in the class. Bummer.
Or maybe I should just be happy at least one of two worked out easy and all right.
I quit trying to funk the bottom protector on and decided to have a go another day. I first have to remove all the dust from the sticky bottom side now or else I'll have a protector stuck on with an acne problem.

Witness my latest treasure, complete with adorable blocky pixels, hummable tunes and a dog called Moochi *yumyum*
I have yet to play it, but on style and music alone this game already wins. Utterly, utterly wins.

Don't you just love how some people actually say "lol" and "sigh" instead of acting them out.
Or is it just plain stupid?

It seems the law of the gaming jungle for me: I want it, I want it, I WANT IT!!!!!, but then once I actually have obtained something it starts to become less interesting by the second. Come to think of it, that story holds true for many of my desires... Anyway, in this case that fate seems to have befallen my poor spinky whitey DS. Having a handheld console always seemed so great to me, gaming on the go and the non-go alike, with nice clean pixelly games, but how often do I actually pick the system over a normale gameconsole or PC? Hardly ever. In fact, how often do I pick the system over a book, newspaper or watching grass grow outside my window? And the irony is actually that I love playing on it. I think. Now I'm getting ready to pack up for a few days of camping I wonder how awesome it would be to have the DS next to my pillow for those late, and early, hours when I can't sleep, but also am unable to read something.
As I am drifiting in that state of DS-gaming-mind I'm looking over at Renchi for some "must have!" purchases. Maybe once I get a sock, screen protector and a new battery (current one seems to be running out of juice faster and faster) I will be handing the little blighter some much needed and deserved loving. But for some reason I highly doubt it though. I'd need new games for some proper loving, but what where how why huh who etc?!
If like me you're in a pickle about having a DS and wanting to use it more often, but wonder double-u-tea-eff you should play on it go have a gander at this NeoGAF thread. I think most of the games anyone can like for the system are mentioned there, with piccies, movies, reviews and the whole shjahwhatsit. And importing it through Renchi saves me a pretty penny as well. If this doesn't have my hands blazing on the machine, nothing will.
