Just now I learned that Satoshi Kon has passed away last week. He was the mastermind behind anime classics such as Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, Millenium Actress and (the Inception inspirational work) Paprika. I actually felt a little saddened when reading about it. That may seem a little silly for someone who I don't personally know at all, but I know and love his work and through that connection it feels like we have shared some mutual grounds. It's come as a bit of a shock really. It's a little depressing to realise he's no longer roaming this blue orb with us :/

Watching Weird Creatures With Nick Baker on Animal Planet is both entertaining and it teaches you a bit about nature. He's a pretty funny guy, knows how to convert his information into good chunks, realizes we're not all retarded children and doesn't seem to treat nature as his playground and his alone. He's almost everything Steve Irwin wasn't, and just for that I'm grateful. I will watch this guys program, I like him.

Know what I really hate? Nuclear holocaust. But I also really hate this annoying little itch on the underside of my foot. You have to scratch, because it's an itch, but it's also an area prone to itch when scratched, so I don't want to overdo the scratching. It's like an ancient problem. To itch or not to itch.

It all happened when I decided to have a nice sit for a movie, which rarely happens these days. I only wanted to see the second half of Public Enemies, but I also rewatched Watchmen, saw Ponyo and the last half of The Boat That Rocked. Which surprisingly actually did have some rock in it. Gotta find that soundtrack sometime. All in all a good few hours of TV, only slightly soured by itchy feet.

When I saw a UK import for the Blu-ray version of Ghost In The Shell lying in a store on sunday, I thought it was my lucky day. It features both the remake as the original in supposedly high-def and it was cheap. So where could it go wrong? Unfortunately in the worst of ways. This cheap european version has a _VERY_ poor transfer of the original (the version I really only want), almost making me wish the days of VHS to return. It's that bad. And while the 2.0 version is pretty enough (though 1080i max), it is, as we all know, a sin against humanity, you just don't mess with the classics. And that's just what this remake is. A mess.

It has however reminded me again of the greatness that is the Ghost In The Shell anime. The story, the characters, the chase, the shootings, the animation, the music, the major. A real gem.

After the Ferrari 250 GTO and the Ford GT40, I've found another favourite in the Porsche 550 Spyder;

Inception is fantastic. It runs and walks when it has to, plenty of depth to lose some sleep over and the music knows when to come crashing through walls and ceilings. For me it's right up there alongside The Prestige and The Dark Knight. Kudos Nolan.

Oh Ferrari! Why oh why did you have to make such an arse of yourself?! We all know each and every team deals teamorders to get their result. But did you have to do it this blatent? First Smedley over the team comms and then Massa leaving not a shred of doubt with him pulling the car over. As a Ferrari fan (both road- and racecar), I hope they will be penalized with this. With a litte more than that skimpy fine. McLaren and RBR aren't spotless, far from it, but 2 wrongs really don't make a right. Bollocks.

Then again, a win for my team, yay!!

MotoGP seems free from this and as of now offers the oh. my. god. most awesomenestest (that a word?) camera ever: gyroscopic onboard camera Watching it during the Laguna Seca race made me jump out of bed, yes it''s that awesome. Rossi the king.
